There are several ways to recover your pass word in case you have forgotten your MSN password.

You had been asked to answer a secret question of your choice from the list when signing up for you new MSN account. If you had opted for this you can recover your password by choosing the option "forgot your password?" which is displayed at the bottom of the screen while you are signing in. First your account name has to be entered (e.g.tom_joseph@hotmail.com).

Lastly you will have to enter the original answer which you had entered while creating your MSN account. Also you will have to choose your location from the given list.

You can also forward the password reset instruction that you had given at the time of opening the MSN account to the alternate email address in case you have forgotten the answer to secret question. It is important that the substitute email address has been submitted by you when you had opened your MSN account. Firstly, select the option "send password reset instructions to me in email" and choose "alternate email address", click "continue" the message. Password reset instructions were sent to your alternate e-mail address.

If you had forgotten the secret question and also not given alternate email address at the time of creating the account, than you will have to download software available free on internet. Though most of the software will work only if you had checked "remember my password" when you were signing in your MSN Messenger account.
